A political showdown between former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has intensified following the disruption of Gachagua’s convoy in Nakuru.
The confrontation reportedly occurred on Friday in the Kaptembwa/Soko Mjinga area of Nakuru Town West, where Gachagua’s convoy was confronted by residents, with several vehicles reportedly damaged.
Gachagua has accused Arama and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika of being linked to the incident. He has also questioned Arama’s loyalty to the opposition and described him as a “mole”, while calling on Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i to take action against the MP.
“Huyu Arama is a mole,” Gachagua said, accusing the MP of working against the opposition from within.
Arama has strongly denied involvement in the confrontation, saying residents have a right to express their political views. He also accused Gachagua of trying to intimidate political opponents and challenged him over his criticism of President William Ruto.
“I cannot allow Gachagua to come and abuse the President from my constituency,” Arama said.
Arama further accused the former Deputy President of wanting to “bully everyone,” insisting that he would not be intimidated by the accusations.
Gachagua, meanwhile, has vowed to continue his political activities in Nakuru as he seeks to strengthen his political influence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The confrontation has added to growing political tensions in Nakuru, with the Gachagua-Arama exchange highlighting the widening divisions between rival political camps as the 2027 contest draws closer.
